POSITION:                Substitute Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY


Under the general direction of the Transportation Supervisor, and/or in accordance with established instructions or procedures, performs assigned tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge normally acquired through a general high school education.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Between six months and one year of progressively more responsible or expansive experience is required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Successful completion of a three day bus driving school course.  Knowledge and skill necessary to the safe operation of a school bus in adverse driving conditions.  Observance of safety and safe driving practices.  Must have knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to transportation issues.  Intermediate to advanced level computer skills with experience in the Agency’s software programs (Microsoft Office) required. Must be able to lift 60 pounds.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:  Must possess a valid CDL with a “B” or “C” class and a “P” endorsement.  A valid Michigan driver’s license is required, and a driving record in compliance with CAASCM insurance carrier requirements and state law mandates.  Must pass pre-employment health assessment and possess a Department of Transportation medical card.
