Coronavirus

July 21, 2020

Dear Clients:

In this ever-changing atmosphere Community Action remains committed to providing excellent customer service, with safety in mind. We are in compliance with the Governor’s executive orders and our buildings remain closed to public walk ins but overall service continues and can be arranged by clients calling 1-877-422-2726.

Preschool Programming:

We have re-opened programming for Early Head Start and for the summer Head Start children beginning July 16 and 20th, respectively. There are many COVID measures in place to make sure that children, families and staff stay safe. One of these is that parents may not enter the center during pick up or drop off. If parents have questions they may contact the centers directly for more information. In the fall, we are planning to reduce class sizes to 10 children per room, closely following licensing recommendations. We are continuing to enroll children for openings where classroom options are possible and will also plan to provide a virtual option. We will continue to monitor the situation and take into account State and Federal government guidelines if changes to in person instruction need to change. We will be posting updates on our website and Facebook if there are any changes.

Commodities (will continue):

We will be holding scheduled distributions at the same time and place as our current published schedules. We are asking clients to stay in their cars and they will receive a pre-packed box. We are also asking clients to come to the distribution according to the timeslot that corresponds to the alphabet letter of their last name. Please see website for more information.

Last Name A-L –       1st half of distribution time

Last Name M-Z –      2nd  half of distribution time

Home Delivered Meals – Branch County – (will continue)

This service will be dropped off at porches or outside the home, staff will not enter homes, and delivery will continue on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with a hot lunch on those days and a frozen meal for the rest of the normal delivery days. We will be calling clients to check in.

Congregate Dinning – Branch County

The Congregate Dining Site at 360 Grand Ave, Coldwater (Coldwater Church of Christ) is still suspended. The seniors who need meals as a part of the program will be allowed to receive at home meals, similar to a Home Delivered Meals client.

This will only be available to those seniors that had previously been utilizing the Congregate program. Please communicate with Program Coordinator at 517-279-8279.

Weatherization/Minor Home Repair/Lead Abatement Programs

Housing programs have resumed with COVID procedures for staff, clients and contractors. Staff, contractors and clients may not have any COVID symptoms in order to receive services during that day. Vulnerable populations may not receive weatherization services based on State guidance. Our staff will make accommodations when all members of the home are cleared by a medical provider, if previous symptoms have occurred. Contractors and staff will perform extra cleaning and wear personal protective equipment during the time of service.
